British Prime Minister Theresa May wins Vote of No Confidence

Today is Wednesday 12th December 2018 and we are reporting on the Conservative Party’s decision this evening to support British Prime Minister Theresa May in a vote of Confidence.

48 Conservative MP’s submitted a letter to the Conservative 1922 Committee demanding a No Confidence Vote in the Prime Minister, when a vote, on the negotiated settlement with the EU, which was due to be decided upon in Parliament yesterday was cancelled, as the Prime Minister realised that she would not carry the day.

She suggested that she would try and renegotiate the deal with the EU – but was rebutted pretty quickly, and this has led to a number of her colleagues losing confidence that she could take the Party forward from here.

To survive the vote the PM needed 159 votes in her favour. She actually achieved 200 with 117 MPs voting against her.

Prior to the vote she told her back bench MPs that she will not lead the Party into the next scheduled General Election due in 2022 – but wants to stay on to deliver her Brexit deal.

What she will do now is difficult to predict. She still has the problem of Parliament not likely to support her BREXIT Plan but she is nevertheless safe for 12 months. Our prediction is that she will present the EU with a choice, a more favourable plan or a Hard Brexit. We shall have to wait and see.
